The Bridge Newsletter - What is It?
By Sarah Stubbs One Wednesday night several months ago, photographers took individual pictures of everyone in youth group. These pictures were made into prayer cards, which were then distributed to members of Fellowship Bible Church who wanted to pray for members of our youth. Since then, what has happened with the people on the cards? Have the holders of the prayer cards met with those they’re praying for? Have any prayers been answered? The questions fairly plead for answers. For example, I know who is praying for me, but I rarely get to see her, and I don’t really know what is going on in her life or even what she’s praying for me. To answer the many questions and to acquaint partners with each other, we have started The Bridge, a quarterly newsletter. Its purpose is to inform members of the youth group about who is praying for them and encourage the students to pray for the adults too. Since FBC is such a huge church, The Bridge is intended to help build relationships that may not have otherwise occurred between the youth and adults. It will also include pictures and overviews of recent church and youth group activities. Not only this, but the newsletter may also include articles and opinions about contemporary issues and pop culture. Youth group members and their prayer partners are encouraged to contribute essays, artwork, and articles of wisdom and encouragement to future publications. Our hope is that The Bridge may enable us to learn much more about those we know only from church. You may notice on the inside prayer partner list that a student name may appear without the prayer partner’s name. If you took a prayer card and forgot to sign up for it, it would be appreciated if you got in touch with the youth ministry administrative assistant, Susan Polk. We want to keep track of each card to help Bridge the gap between the youth and adults. We are open to any suggestions and new members of the Bridge staff. If you want to share your ideas, talk to Sherri Libby. The staff of The Bridge meets twice each month on Sunday afternoons at the church. We could use the help of youth and adults who enjoy writing, photography, or formatting.
