Reaching Out to the Needy

Fellowship Bible Church has been partnering with the Winchester Rescue Mission for decades. FBCers have been a part of building projects, leading Bible studies, serving countless dinners, and serving on the board. The population of homeless women has skyrocketed in the past few years, so the need is huge and safe housing is in short supply. The goal is to show these women the love of Christ by helping them get their feet back on the ground and find permanent housing solutions.

The plan for Fellowship's local outreach this year had a slot for working with Habitat for Humanity and increasing our involvement with the Rescue Mission. As God would plan it, Habitat and the Mission were looking at purchasing a property to rehab and create a Rescue Mission for women. Even before the property was purchased, plans were made as to how to maximize the building’s square footage to best serve homeless women.

With the help of some local contractors, the HVAC, plumbing and floorplan updates have begun. The whole house is in need of painting, cleaning and landscaping. This is where the congregation of FBC can once again come alongside the Winchester Rescue Mission and serve the homeless women of our community. On Saturday, June 1 we are coming together for a work day at 10 East Clifford Street – the future home of the Women’s Rescue Mission. We will start at 8:00 a.m. Join us and bring your painting and landscaping tools – lunch will be provided! Sign up to help at fbcva.life.
