God Sent John to Teach and to Baptize; John Baptized Jesus

In this lesson, God is setting the stage to reveal the Deliverer. We’ve already mentioned some of the fulfillment of prophecy that surrounded Jesus’ birth and childhood as “signs” of who He is, but now we’re within three years of Jesus doing what He came to do—die and pay the penalty for sin.
