Students

Grades 7th - 12th

Fellowship Students is a resource for parents in the discipleship of their students.

Welcome to Student Ministry!

Here at FBC, we seek to remind teenagers that they are not just the future of the Church, but also the present Body of Christ, capable of growing in the grace and knowledge of Him. We are here to prepare and deploy dependent disciples in 7th-12th grade by partnering with parents.

Student Mission Team

This year our students are traveling to Kenya! See below for updates.

The trip to Kenya is still four months away, but it is awesome to see how God is already at work before we even depart! Our preparation and study has the potential to impact the students far beyond the trip. Each member of the team is going through the study Knowing God produced by our Global Missions Department (if you have not yet done the study, I would highly encourage you to go through it!). The team is meeting periodically to discuss what God has been revealing to each person through this study, and it’s been so encouraging! One of the most amazing sights in the world today is to watch God reveal Himself to this generation of young people! The student’s hearts are so hungry to know more of who God is, and it has been such a demonstration of His faithfulness watching as He reveals more of Himself to these students.

As we study through Knowing God and are learning who He is through the Bible, we are also taking time to share how God has worked/is working in each and every team member’s life. This past Sunday, the adult team members took the time to share their testimonies – which is more affirmation of who we see God to be in the Bible. The adults shared so many stories of how the truth about God freed them from legalism or kept them afloat when circumstances were rough. The stories shared were stories of how God pursues each and every person so differently, but who He is stays the same!

How You Can Pray:

1.       We know that the enemy hates God’s people growing in the knowledge of God and grace. Please pray for protection from the enemy’s attack and for the students to continue to grow in the knowledge of who God is.
2.       At the April team meeting, the students on the team will be sharing their stories of how God is working in their lives. Please be praying for them as they think back on how God has worked in their lives and as they craft their stories. Pray for them as they practice public speaking and that they would depend on the Holy Spirit. Please pray that they would not compare their stories with others but instead rejoice in what God is doing in their lives and others.
3.       Please pray for continued fundraising. We are so thankful for this generous church body, as we have already received more than half of the funds needed for the trip! It’s so encouraging to see God work through all aspects of this trip, including the financial aspect.
4.       Please pray that we will all continue to depend on God as we work through the trip's logistics – including the conference planning and preparation. Pray that the leaders would be sensitive to the guidance of the Holy Spirit as they make decisions!

Meet the team.

Caleb Pearson

Director of Student Ministry
Caleb has been a member of FBC for his entire life. He met his wife Hannah in Keystone, FBC’s Young Adult ministry, and they have been serving together ever since! They have been blessed with two beautiful boys: Sammy and Charlie. Caleb’s passion for ministry in response to the gospel rests in the completed work of Christ. He is fueled by the forever standing of God’s word (Isaiah 40) and the joyous privilege it is to suffer for Jesus’ name (James 1). He is a zealous teacher, knows a tremendous amount about the TV show Lost, and enjoys making people laugh! You can find Caleb working with our Youth, on our weekly podcasts, and often preaching in the pulpit.

Emma Culler

Associate Director of Student Ministry

Emma Culler has been attending FBC since the summer of 2017. She learned early on that it was better to follow God’s plans rather than make her own plans. Following God has lead Emma on a few different paths, but He has been so good and so faithful to lead her here to FBC to be the Associate Director of Student Ministries. Emma’s desire is that each student would truly embrace their identity in Christ and grow in their knowledge of Christ’s love for them. When Emma is not at church you can find her playing tennis, hanging out with friends at Rose Hill Park, or hosting a Lord of the Rings movie night.

Micah Doerksen

Associate Director of Student Ministry
Micah is married to Taylor, and they have two boys, Tyler and Cody, who are identical twins. Micah grew up at a missionary kid in West Africa and Papua New Guinea. He later attended Ethnos 360 Bible Institute where he met Taylor, who grew up at FBC. After getting married, Micah served at a church in Michigan for several years before moving to FBC. Micah is passionate about sharing with others who God is and what Christ has accomplished on the cross for them.

Abby Linaburg
