JOY Ministry

Celebrating our uniqueness and differences.
"The eye cannot say to the hand, I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, 'I don't need you!" On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other"  1 Cor. 12:21-23a, 24b-25

Our Mission

To promote and facilitate an inclusive community at FBC that provides resources for discipleship and shepherding of individuals with special needs, and recognizes the contribution that all believers bring to the church family.

Our Goal

Our goal is to "engage, educate, equip, and encourage" the entire FBC congregation to effectively minister to and come alongside individuals and families with special needs.

Our Vision

Our vision is to see the Body of Christ made more complete through discipling and integrating people with special needs into the life and mission of FBC.

Why we need JOY Ministry

Jesus engaged people with many varied special needs, including physical, social, emotional, and mental. When we reflect on Paul's passage on the value of diversity in the Body of Christ, and realize the centrality of the image of God in every person, it goes without saying that we must take advantage of the opportunity to minister to and come alongside people with special needs.
When we do not engage all members of the body, we are trying to function without all of our intended parts. We must first see the person rather than just their need. All persons that God brings into our congregation will at some time need practical support and genuine encouragement. We must not overlook the fact that all believers bring God-given gifts to the church body.

Ways you can help:

PRAY!  Pray for success of this needed ministry. We want this ministry to be centered in God’s will and driven by His wisdom and compassion.

SERVE!  Become a team member of the Joy Team to help meet the needs of the entire church.

We desire to recruit people who desire to serve and minister to those in our congregation that may be in need of assistance and/or accommodations. Training and resources are often available via current Joy Ministry volunteers in order to equip those desiring to serve in many areas within the disability community attending our church.

Let's work together.

We'd love to hear from you. Fill out the form below to get started.
