Amos - part 11
AMOS - RECKLESS IMAGININGS
Chapter 6 Part 1
Amos 6:1-3
Reckless imaginings are the constructs of God we create for ourselves that coincide with what we want Him to be, or not to be, or even enable us to deny His existence
WOE TO YOU
The presumption is that when material blessings are flowing, God’s favor is at work
What might be our equivalent presumption?
“We are safe because we are under grace; Jesus already paid for my sin”
What is the presumption of Samaria?
Confidence in their military might and geographical defensive position. Samaria was situated on a high hill with fortified cities and there was the sense of living in an impregnable fortress
TWO QUESTIONS
1)Are you better than these kingdoms?
2)Is their territory greater than yours, O you who put far away the day of disaster and bring near the seat of violence?
What do you think Amos was trying to get them to see?
What answer should he expect from them?
God is on our side, we are not like them, God would never destroy His chosen people
SPIRITUAL PROCRASTINATION IS DANGEROUS
When we procrastinate we are not honoring the gift of time that God has given us!
We are engaging in reckless imagining
