What Have We Learned?
✤God promises to preserve a remnant of creation in Noah’s ark;
✤But only Noah is righteous before God,
✤And God commands him to build the ark, and he does as commanded.
✤God promised that every creature would come to Noah for him to keep them alive!
✤And so the animals came, chosen by God, to be preserved on the ark.
✤First, God called to Noah to enter the ark; then the animals entered after him, clean and unclean.
✤What clean and unclean means is undefined at this point, but well understood by Moses and his contemporaries.
✤So Noah and family went into the ark because of the waters of the flood.
✤On the 17th of the second month when Noah was 600.
✤And the Lord shut him in. And the ark was rendered watertight by God.
✤And my speculation is that the animals assumed a hibernation state to minimize their energy needs and prevent procreation until appropriate.
