Elder Candidate: Jason Robertson

The elders are pleased to put forth Jason Robertson for the office of elder at Fellowship Bible Church.

Scripture teaches that elders are called to shepherd and oversee the local church. Both Paul and Peter provide instruction about the role and qualifications of elders.

For this reason I left you in Crete, that you should set in order the things that are lacking, and appoint elders in every city as I commanded you.
Titus 1:5 NKJV


The elders who are among you I exhort, I who am a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that will be revealed: Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly.
1 Peter 5:1–2 NKJV


Biblical Qualifications for Elders

Scripture gives specific qualifications for those who serve as elders. We encourage you to prayerfully read:
  • Titus 1:5–9
  • 1 Timothy 3:1–7

Our Process at Fellowship Bible Church

Our bylaws state in Article 9(a)2:

Membership Verification for Elders and Deacons: After a thorough examination and reaching satisfaction, the Board of Elders shall present the potential elder or deacon's name before the membership for response and opportunity to confirm the biblical qualifications of the man publicly. Those members holding charges against them will be asked to communicate such to the Board of Elders privately. Any charges will be verified and dealt with according to the Scriptures.


A Request to Our Members
The members of Fellowship Bible Church are encouraged to prayerfully consider these Scriptures and affirm that Jason meets the biblical qualifications to serve as an elder.

If you are aware of anything in Jason's life that would be inconsistent with these biblical qualifications, please contact the elders privately.

After a period of at least two weeks, if Jason is affirmed as meeting these qualifications, he will be publicly ordained as an elder.

Marlin Beitzel

Recommended for the role of Elder

Marlin and Dawn Beitzel have attended FBC since 1996. They have been married for 34 years and have two daughters Martha and Emma Cox (and a son-in-law Ian Cox). Over the years Marlin has served as a community group leader, learning center teacher, Follow-the-Star parking coordinator, F3 greeter, and has been on the F3 leadership team. He is currently part of FBC's discipleship ministry team with Tim Sanford. 

Tim LeMay

Recommended for the role of Elder

Tim and Angie LeMay have attended FBC since 2004. They have been married for 30 years and have three children, Drew LeMay, Lauren LeMay, and Ashley Sanford (son-in-law Ben Sanford). Tim has served in FBC’s Children’s Ministry, on the Community Outreach Leadership Team, and is currently serving as a Community Group Leader and on the Follow the Star leadership team.

Gilbert Gomez

Recommended for the role of Deacon

Gilbert was born in Texas; his wife Mary Ann, in Pennsylvania. Their daughter Julie was born in Indiana. Their son-in-law Kurt Garinger and two of their Grandsons, Kyle and Jake, were also born in Pennsylvania. And their youngest Grandson Noah was born in Virginia. Yes, they are an all-American family. And they are an all-FBC family!

Gilbert and Mary Ann met in San Francisco, where Gilbert was saved at a skid row mission. Mary Ann was doing volunteer service with the missions program there. Their heart has always been to serve in whatever capacity and in every opportunity that God has presented to them.
Gilbert and Mary Ann have been attending FBC since 2018 and have grown to love the people who make up the church. God has blessed them with many opportunities to serve, thereby fulfilling what they see as an important part of God’s purposes for them.

A Scripture that has special meaning for the Gomezes is 2 Corinthians 4:5 — “For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.”
